Literacy Programs
Birdie's Bookmobile offers embedded literacy STEM, AI technology, and theater programs for
grades K-5 at no cost to students, schools, and partner organizations in Metro Detroit.
Storybook STEM celebrates diversity in science, technology, engineering, and math using culturally sustaining children's picture books and engaging hands-on activities to teach
problem-solving, and critical thinking, and introduce the scientific method. Basic STEM concepts are illustrated using reading texts and strategies to reinforce literacy skills.
(Grades K-2)
Reader's Theater turns picture books into performances! Drama is a universal form of expression that teaches collaboration, helps boost confidence, and develops social-emotional learning. Readers Theater helps improve fluency through repeated and assisted
reading of texts. The little theater troupe will read pre-selected scripts, write scripts of their own, design small sets, make costumes, have fun with puppets, and learn through theater games. (Grades K-3)

Birdie's Beats is an engaging STEM program designed specifically for 3rd to 5th graders. In this interactive program, students will explore the world of music creation using AI technology. Kids will learn how to use AI-powered music generators to compose their own unique songs. They will cover the basics of music theory, understand how AI works, and discover the creative possibilities that technology offers. Through hands-on activities and collaborative projects, students will unleash their inner musicians while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills—all while having fun making music together!
